City Council
The Navasota City Council is the elected body that provides the direction and policy for the City of Navasota. The City of Navasota operates under a Home Rule Charter with a council/manager form of government. There are five elected Council members who serve for alternating two-year terms. Meetings take place on the second and fourth Monday each month at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. To contact the City Council, please call the City Secretary at (936) 825-6408.

Responsibilities
The role of the City Council is to:
- Enact ordinances and resolutions;
- Adopt regulations;
- Set policy direction for the conduct of the affairs of the City.
Appointments
The citizens of Navasota elect the five members of the City Council at large. The City of Navasota Charter stipulates that the Council members will vote on which members serve as the Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tem.
The City Council appoints the citizens of Navasota and Grimes County to approximately 90 seats on the advisory boards and commissions. Along with the Council, these board members serve as volunteers and play an important role in shaping the Navasota of tomorrow.
