Phone Book Recycling Begins
What do I do with my old phone book now? Don’t throw it in the trash. Recycle it! Old telephone books can be used to make environmentally friendly insulation for houses, mulch for gardens, egg cartons, and a variety of assorted paper products, such as utility bill envelopes, cereal boxes, and grocery bags.
Navasota residents and business owners can now begin recycling their outdated phone books by dropping them off at the Navasota Recycle Station, located at 515 Fifth Street.
The phone books will be accepted free of charge at the recycle station every Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
For more information, contact the City of Navasota Public Works Department at (936) 825-6450.

2007 Navasota City-Wide Cleanup Program
The City of Navasota will be conducting its Annual City-Wide Cleanup Program beginning Monday, March 5. City Street and Sanitation forces will collect unwanted junk and debris from curbside during this month long endeavor. The annual city program gives residents an opportunity to dispose of unwanted items that the city’s solid waste collector, Allied Waste Services does not accept. The cleanup efforts are intended to help beautify area neighborhoods and develop a cleaner, more livable community.
The City-Wide Cleanup program will require all items that need to be discarded placed at the curb before 8:00 a.m. on Monday of the week the resident’s area is to be collected. Items placed after this time may not get collected, as backtracking will not be possible. The cleanup schedule will be similar to the yard-waste collection, further defined as:
March 5-9: Area #1 (located north of W. Washington Ave. & west of N. LaSalle St.)
March 12-16: Area #2 (located north of E. Washington Ave. & east of N. LaSalle St.)
March 19-23: Area #3 (located south of E. Washington Ave. & east of S. LaSalle St.)
March 26-30: Area #4 (located south of W. Washington Ave. & west of S. LaSalle St.)
A display will be set up at City Hall showing a City-Wide Cleanup Location Area Map, dates of collection and guideline information. Additional flyers will be available in both English and Spanish at City Hall, Navasota Public Library, Public Works, and the Navasota Center.
Contact the City of Navasota Public Works Office at 936-825-6450, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
