  4. Navasota Child Nutrition Program

    June 20, 7:00 AM - 12:30 PM @ Navasota Jr High

    The Navasota Child Nutrition Summer Program will be held from June 3 to June 27, at the Navasota Junior High School and from June 3 to June 27 and from July 8 to July 30 at the John C. Webb Elementary School. All feeding sites will be open Monday through Thursday. Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Any child who is 18 years or younger can eat for free at either location. For adults and parents, breakfast is $2.25 and lunch is $3.25. Parents may eat breakfast and lunch with their child and those who are not NISD students can participate in the Seamless Summer Program. For more information, call 936-825-4249. If participation is too low, the John C. Webb site may close earlier than July 30.

    The Navasota Public Library, in cooperation with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission is sponsoring the 2013 Texas Reading Club this summer. The theme this year is, “Dig into Reading.” June 24, 2013 – “Tom, the Snake Man:” Live reptile presentation. Programs and activities are planned to promote reading as a leisure activity, stimulate curiosity, and encourage children to use the library resources. The Texas Reading Club is self-paced and fosters reading success by asking children to record titles of books they read or the length of time they spend reading each day. A beautiful certificate signed by the Texas governor will be awarded to each child who attains his or her reading goals. Additionally, the library has scheduled Monday nights’ special story times/ presentations for the month of June to help keep children productively occupied this summer.

    District Little League Tournament to be held at the City of Navasota Ball Fields June 24th thru July 2nd. Juniors, East Texas District 13 includes Grimes Co, Washington Co, Lee County, Bellville, Burleson Co, Sealy & Waller. Concessions will be available. Admission will be $2 for Adults & $1 for Students. Please keep your pets at home. You are welcome to bring your own chair if you want although bleachers are provided. 50/50 "Lucky Bucket" drawing every night to support Grimes County Little League.     Toy Time at Star of the Republic Museum @ Washington on the Brazos State Park Toy Time Features 16 giant interactive folk toys with designs dating back 300 years. Star of The Republic Museum administered by Blinn College will bring toys from yesteryear to the Brazos Valley this summer with an exhibit that tumbles, slides, rocks, dances and spins.
